Abstract

In the last decades, the religious education in public schools in Norway has transformed from a common religious and catechetical instruction to the pluralistic-shaped subject “Christianity, Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics” (KRLE). Both a judgment of the ECHR and a complaint at the CCPR, which was brought in by followers of the Humanists, had essential influence on the subject and its transformation. The article highlights the history of religious education from its beginning until today and the fundamental changes in the educational legislation with references to the judgment of the ECHR (2007).
