Neuordnung der Seelsorge und Hirtensorge in den Pastoralen Räumen im Bistum Würzburg

Abstract

As per 1st of October 2021, Bishop Dr. Franz Jung implemented complementary norms concerning the „Reorganisation of the care of souls and pastoral care within pastoral space" („Neuordnung der Seelsorge und Hirtensorge im Pastoralen Raum" in German) for the Diocese of Würzburg and hereby bindingly laid down the structure of pastoral care for his diocese after a longer development process. Establishing 43 pastoral spaces by merging neighbouring parishes and associations of parishes with the option of solidary governance according to c. 517 § 1 CIC played a decisive role in it. This article aims at presenting and explaining the essential subject matters of these complementary norms and wants to point out their context as well as to outline the process of development which preceded the current complementary norms.
